## 8. Shortness of Breath or Wheezing
Although metoprolol primarily targets receptors in the heart, higher doses may also affect receptors involved in breathing. People with asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, or another respiratory condition may be more vulnerable to wheezing or breathing difficulty.
